After a 5-0 start for the Tar Heels, the first real stiff competition is on the horizon with their trip out west to Las Vegas.

Making their third appearance in the Continental Tire Vegas Invitational, North Carolina has had success in recent years with a second place finish in 2011-12 and the winners of the event back in 2007-08.

After only facing one top 100 opponent (Wofford – 78) according to ESPN BPI throughout the first couple weeks of the season, they will face Texas (40) in the opener and then either Michigan State (8) or UCLA (86) for the second matchup, allowing us to see how exactly the Tar Heels stack up against power five competition.

After another nonchalant performance for Carolina in a 101-76 victory over St. Francis (PA) on Monday night, they will need to step up their efficiency on both ends if they want to come back home victorious.
