The UNC Basketball program is set to host Zeke Nnaji this weekend for an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill

The early signing period is officially here as recruits are able to sign their letters of intent to the school that will attend in 2019.

On Wednesday, the University of North Carolina received their letters of intent from five-star center Armando Bacot and four-start point guard Jeremiah Francis. But head coach Roy Williams hopes that’s not all for his 2019 recruiting class.

While official visits are all wrapped up for the Tar Heels, they will have a visit from a very important recruit this weekend.

Four-star power forward Zeke Nnaji is set to unofficially visit Chapel Hill this week just 10 days after Williams met in-home with the recruit.

Following Nnaji’s official to Purdue, Williams flew to Minnesota to meet with Nnaji as he’s just shown some recent interest in the recruit. With a need on the wing, Nnaji could fill that void in UNC’s 2019 recruiting class.

But are the Tar Heels too late?

Nnaji released his final five of Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Purdue, and UCLA just a few weeks back and has taken official visits to those schools. He will not be able to take an official to UNC but him going for an unofficial means something.

The forward wouldn’t be taking an unofficial if there wasn’t some interest in UNC. With his announcement date coming next week, the Tar Heels are still in this thing.

How into it are they? Well, that’s going to determine on the visit.

If UNC could somehow ‘wow’ the recruit on the visit, that could really have a big impact on his upcoming decision. This is essentially UNC’s only chance to land Nnaji and add to their already impressive class.

UNC will host a basketball game on Friday night against Tennessee Tech as well as a football game against Western Carolina on Saturday. Packed houses for both games would certainly be a plus for Nnaji’s visit.

We won’t officially know how things went until after the visit and next week’s decision could tell us a lot about what happened. If all goes well, this could be one of Williams’ biggest wins on the recruiting trail this late in the cycle.
