Kendall Marshall could join UNC’s coaching staff once he finishes up school and gets his degree

Point guard Kendall Marshall got his chance to start for the North Carolina Tar Heels when Larry Drew II left the program in February 2011. From there, Marshall took over as the starter at point guard and developed into one of the best passers in program history.

After a few stints in the NBA, Marshall returned to UNC during the 2017-18 season to finish his degree and work with the basketball program.

Marshall is continues to help the program as much as he can and is also set to complete his degree at UNC.

While appearing on his weekly radio show Tuesday night, head coach Roy Williams discussed Marshall’s involvement with the team and revealed some big news. According to Williams, Marshall is set to finish his degree and graduate in December.

As you can see in the tweet above, Williams also hopes to find a permanent spot for the former point guard on UNC’s coaching staff once he’s completed his schooling.

Adding Marshall could be a big boost to this coaching staff as he can work with the guards and provide some valuable knowledge to the freshmen on the roster. Marshall has been through it all and was the leader of a few very good UNC teams.

UNC never reached their ultimate goal of winning a national title under Marshall, thanks to a questionable game against Creighton in which the point guard injured his wrist, but he undoubtedly changed that team when he was there.

It’s great to see Marshall go back and not only complete school but also be around the program.

He could be the latest former UNC player to land a job in a few years and try to build up a program of his own. The Carolina coaching tree continues to expand and we are excited to see what’s next for Marshall.
