The UNC Basketball program has jumped in on the recruitment for a four-star power forward in the 2019 recruiting class

University of North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams is making a late push on a four-star power forward in the 2019 class and he’s starting to gain some traction.

News broke earlier in the week via Inside Carolina that Williams had met with forward Zeke Nnaji and offered him a scholarship. It appears as if UNC has made enough of an impression that Nnaji is interested in the program and has scheduled a visit.

According to Scout recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, Nnaji has set an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill to visit UNC. Nnaji will be on campus the weekend of Nov. 16-17 for his unofficial as the Tar Heels will host Tennessee Tech that Friday night in the Dean Dome.

This is an interesting development as UNC just got in on the Minnesota native’s recruitment.

Nnaji is ranked as the No. 34 player in the 2019 recruiting class by 247 Sports and is a Top 10 player at his position. He’s the No. 2 player in the state of Minnesota and has already provided an announcement date.

The recruit will officially announce his college decision on November 23 at Hopkins (Minn.) High School, where he is close to starting his senior season of basketball.

Nnaji has interest from Kansas, Arizona, UCLA, Baylor and Purdue, where he has taken official visits too. His final official visit was to Purdue over the weekend. It was following that visit that Williams made a trip to Minnesota to meet with the recruit.

This is certainly a last ditch effort to try and land a talented forward in the class after UNC missed out on Jeremiah Robinson-Earl as he committed to Villanova in October.

Williams would love to add another player on the wing in addition to five star center Armando Bacot and four star point guard Jeremiah Francis who are both verbally committed in 2019.

The Tar Heels are still in the running for recruits Vernon Carey Jr, Keion Brooks, Boogie Ellis and Cole Anthony but it appears as if Anthony is the only one they have a shot at. Landing Nnaji would be a big turn of events in his recruitment and would be a big get for Williams’ 2019 class.

UNC would really have to make a huge impression on him during his visit to have the chance.
