Class of 2019 five-star recruit Matthew Hurt is in no rush to make a decision on what school he will attend

University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams is hoping that the 2019 recruiting class will be one of his best in a long time.

Williams already has verbal commitments from point guard Jeremiah Francis and center Armando Bacot, a solid start to what could be a very good class. But the head coach hopes he’s not done just yet.

One of the targets remaining on Williams’ recruiting board is forward and Minnesota native Matthew Hurt.

The five-star recruit has somewhat kept his recruitment quiet, not revealing too much to insiders along the way. Hurt hasn’t been completely silent about everything and recently he did open up and provided an update to his recruitment.

While participating in the USA Basketball October Minicamp in Colorado, Hurt spoke with Rivals’ writer Eric Bossi to reveal some things.

Hurt revealed that he won’t be cutting a list anytime soon and that there are seven schools he’s hearing from frequently. One of those schools is UNC.

“There’s about seven schools right now that are primarily the ones who are contacting me a lot,” Hurt told Bossi. “I probably won’t cut any schools, but it’s really those seven or eight. Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Minnesota and North Carolina.”

The consensus Top 10 player in the 2019 class wants to take all of his visits and he hopes to do so for some games on campus. Hurt would like to take in the full game atmosphere he told Bossi and with five official visits allowed, the Tar Heels are likely to get one.

He hasn’t planned any visits of yet and there are no serious plans to make an announcement anytime soon.

What we gathered from the interview is that Hurt’s announcement will likely come in 2019 and he’s really in no rush. Williams continues to pursue Hurt, showing a lot of interest in the power forward. But will it pay off? Only time will tell.
