The UNC Football program has offered Luke Maye’s brother, Drake, who is currently a sophomore quarterback

The Maye legacy at the University of North Carolina just might extend past this year when senior Luke is expected to graduate and finish up his basketball career. That is if the youngest brother decides to enroll and play football at UNC.

Earlier this week, Drake Maye, announced via Twitter that the Tar Heels’ football program has officially offered the class of 2021 quarterback. Maye posted this message to confirm the news.

Maye is currently a sophomore at Myers Park High School in North Carolina and his recruitment is starting to pickup a bit. The Tar Heels are the latest program to offer the quarterback, joining Tennessee and West Virginia.

The 6-foot-3 quarterback has thrown for 1,281 yards, 18 touchdowns and just 1 interception going into the weekend of October 5th, a very good start for the Myers Park High School product.

Drake’s father, Mark,  left his legacy as one of the best quarterbacks in the country, playing for Independence High in Mint Hill, North Carolina before his UNC career was derailed by injuries. If all went well, Maye likely would have been one of the top UNC quarterbacks in program history and eventually would end up in the NFL.

There are three Maye brothers with Luke playing basketball at UNC, Cole plays baseball for Florida and Drake is currently in high school. Both Luke and Cole have won national championships in the same year in their respective sports.

While Drake is still a little ways from deciding on a college, he has caught the attention of the Tar Heels football staff.

He participated in one of UNC’s camps over the Summer and really impressed Tar Heels’ coaches, finally landing that offer just this past week. With the troubles UNC has currently at quarterback, it would be smart to start recruiting some at the position in future classes.
