What are the chances the UNC Basketball program can land both Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Josh Green? A recruiting analyst weighs in on it.

This weekend could be a big one for the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program as they are hosting two big recruits in the 2019 class on campus.

IMG Academy’s Josh Green and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl are both five-star recruits that will be taking their official visits to UNC this weekend. Both players are high on UNC’s recruiting list for Roy Williams and would be significant additions to this 2019 class.

Ahead of this weekend’s visit, Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans wrote his Wednesday Leftovers article, answering more recruiting questions about targets in the 2019 and 2020 classes from Twitter.

Evans broke down a few big recruits including both Green and Robinson-Earl after he was asked about UNC’s chances of landing both recruits from IMG in their 2019 class. The analyst gave UNC a 40 percent chance to land both in his answer, citing that they have some tough competition for both recruits.

But when he broke down which one he thought UNC had the best chance at getting, he offered up this answer:

"However, I do feel fairly confident UNC can snatch Green, one of the more versatile and talented guards in the 2019 class, and the Tar Heels are primarily battling with Arizona for his commitment.Robinson-Earl on the other hand, is down to a final five, but many believe that this race will come down to UNC and Kansas. I will side with Jayhawks for now, but I do still see good things ahead for Roy Williams’ crew in the months ahead as Green and another potential guard standout should pledge."

Evans sounded pretty confident with his answer about landing one of the two recruits and noted Green as the guy.

UNC is battling Kansas for Robinson-Earl and it appears as if those two schools are the favorites in the recruitment. Robinson-Earl is set to visit Kansas next weekend and still has a visit lined up with Arizona to close out his five officials.

As for Green, Evans noted that UNC’s biggest competition in the race for the guard would be Arizona. The Wildcats have shown significant interest in him, as have the Tar Heels. However, Kansas is also in the mix for Green and if the two become a package deal, watch out for the Jayhawks.

Green will visit Arizona on Oct. 11th and currently doesn’t have any other official visits lined up as of now.

Both players also have a connection to UNC in the form of five-star center Armando Bacot. The trio are teammates at IMG Academy and Bacot has been doing some recruiting of his own for the Tar Heels, trying to lure both Green and Robinson-Earl to UNC.

This weekend’s visits could go a long way in UNC’s chances to land either Green or Robinson-Earl but don’t expect them to make a decision right away. Both are expected to complete their official visits and a decision could come later in the year or early 2019.
