UNC will take a trip to Chicago to face Kentucky in December as part of the CBS Sports Classic and the tip time has been announced

The North Carolina Tar Heels will have one of the toughest non-conference schedule’s they have had in recent memory for the 2018-19 season. They have games scheduled against Gonzaga, Stanford, Kentucky, Michigan and potentially Michigan State or UCLA in the Las Vegas Classic.

One of the premier non-conference games for the Tar Heels this season will take place in Chicago and will likely be a Top 25 matchup and potentially Top 10 matchup in December.

UNC will meet Kentucky once again in the CBS Sports Classic this year, hosted at the United Center in Chicago. The two teams last played against each other in this event back in December of 2016 with the Wildcats pulling it out late in what was a thrilling game.

The Tar Heels would get revenge just a few months later in another classic game when Luke Maye hit the game-winner with just .3 left in the Elite Eight showdown in Memphis. The win would propel the Tar Heels to the Final Four where they eventually would win the National Championship.

As for this year’s matchup, the two teams will meet on Saturday, December 22nd at the United Center. On Thursday, the tip time of 5:15 p.m. ET was announced as the game will be the second of a double-header, taking place following the UCLA-Ohio State game.

The first CBS Sports Classic took place in Chicago with UNC beating Ohio State in the opener, followed by Kentucky beating UCLA. The event drew a large crowd from Kentucky as well as Ohio State and UNC.

Tickets for the event are not on sale yet, but will be available via Ticketmaster. More information on the event can be found on United Center’s website.

The Tar Heels will open the season in early November on the road against Wofford and then at Elon before returning home to play Stanford on Nov. 12.
