UNC Basketball: Five-star forward sets official visit for Chapel Hill
By Zack Pearson
A Five-star power forward is set to visit the UNC Basketball program in Chapel Hill after setting his date on Wednesday night
The North Carolina Tar Heels have already received one big commitment in the 2019 recruiting class by landing five-star recruit Armando Bacot and now they are hoping to land another top post player.
Power forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is ranked as a top 20 player in the 2019 class and recently cut down his list to five finalists. Now, the five-star Florida native is ready to take his official visits.
According to Inside Carolina’s Sherrell McMillan, Robinson-Earl has scheduled all five of his visits, including one to UNC in September. Robinson-Earl’s mother confirmed the news to McMillan on Wednesday night.
UNC will host Robinson-Earl on campus beginning September 21st, marking his first trip to Chapel Hill since he took an unofficial nearly two years ago. It’s unknown who will host Robinson-Earl on the visit just yet but the football team will be hosting Pitt that Saturday afternoon at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
Robinson-Earl has also set up an official visit to Kansas as he will visit the Jayhawks on September 28th. He hasn’t set dates yet for the other three schools left in his recruitment, Notre Dame, Arizona, and Villanova but he’s expressed the desire to take all five officials before announcing a decision.
The power forward has been a big target of Roy Williams for months now as the head coach has watched him during open evaluation periods.
He also has a connection to the newest UNC verbal in Bacot.
Both Bacot and Robinson-Earl will play their junior seasons at the IMG Academy in Florida this season and could be teammates in college if the Tar Heels land both. Bacot has made it known he’s going to recruit heavy for UNC and with Robinson-Earl at the same academy, he will certainly have his chance to do so.
As of now, there is no word on who a favorite is in the race for the five-star recruit but the Kansas native does have ties to the Jayhawks. It wouldn’t shock us if the teams to beat where UNC and Kansas, giving us a good ole fashioned recruiting battle for one of the top players in the country.
