The No. 1 player in the 2019 class has set four official visits to programs, leaving one open. But will the UNC Basketball program get it?

Many believe that the top player in the 2019 recruiting class, James Wiseman, is down to just two teams in his recruitment.

After narrowing down his list to eight schools, including the North Carolina Tar Heels, the rumor was that Wiseman was down to just Kentucky and Memphis. Those two schools were deemed the top two and the ones that Wiseman would focus on primarily.

But that may not be the case.

On Tuesday, Scout recruiting analyst Evan Daniels wrote a piece on Wiseman and where he stands in his recruitment and revealed that although the Wildcats and Tigers appear to be the favorites, Wiseman’s recruitment is “still wide open” as of now.

The five-star recruit and Memphis, Tennessee product is the consensus top player in the 2019 class and would be a big get for whatever school lands him. After releasing his top eight of UNC, Memphis, Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas, Florida State, Texas and Vanderbilt, Wiseman is set to start taking officials.

In the article by Daniels, Wiseman says he’s taking official visits to Kentucky (Sept. 9), Kansas (Sept. 28th), and Vanderbilt (Oct. 5). Wiseman is also likely visiting Florida State but is waiting to hear on an available date.

That marks four official visits set leaving just one open.

If Wiseman does decide to take that fifth official, he would have to choose between UNC, Texas, Arizona, and Memphis. Living in Memphis, Wiseman has been on campus for a bunch of unofficials so he may decided it’s best to look at another school instead. He could also decide not to take a fifth official.

While Wiseman did say that Kentucky and Memphis are his top two schools, his mother told Daniels that his recruitment is still wide open.

"“We have our options wide open,” Wiseman’s mom, Donzaleigh Artis, told 247Sports. “Kansas keeps in touch all the time, Vanderbilt is always on him, Florida State is emailing and texting, they’re on him. It’s not just Kentucky and Memphis.”"

The Tar Heels don’t appear to be one of the top schools for Wiseman but that door is still slightly open. If they do get the fifth official visit, it would go a long way for their chances right now.

But still, it’s unlikely we see Wiseman in Carolina Blue unless something major happens in his recruitment.
