Five-star guard Cole Anthony has released his final 12 including the UNC Basketball program for his first big update in his recruitment thus far

Class of 2019 guard Cole Anthony has keep his recruitment pretty quiet over the past year with no real solid information leaking out.

The five-star guard is the No. 2 player in the 2019 class according to 247 Sports and hasn’t taken any visits or released any lists of teams he might be down to. But that changed a little on Monday night. Anthony took to Twitter to reveal his list and although it’s not a top three or five, it’s at least something.

The recruit broke down his top 12 schools, showing that he will focus on those programs as his recruitment starts to pick up this year.

Anthony posted a photo of himself with 12 program logos Monday night. In his final 12 are: UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami, Wake Forest, Villanova, Louisville, Pitt, Oregon, Notre Dame and Georgetown.

Like we previously stated, there’s really no solid info that any of those teams are the front runners at the moment. Anthony did make stops in Chapel Hill and Winston Salem a few weeks ago as he was in the state of North Carolina for the Chris Paul camp. That does bode as good news for both the Demon Deacons and Tar Heels.

Anthony did not stop at Duke while on the trip.

UNC head coach Roy Williams made it a priority to watch Anthony at the open evaluation periods in July, showing significant interest in the point guard.

With four-star Jeremiah Francis and five-star Armando Bacot both verbally committed, Williams would love to add another five-star guard on the perimeter in his 2019 recruiting class. Bacot has already said he’s going to start recruiting some players to join UNC’s 2019 class, including Anthony.

As the new list is out, one thing to note is that there are seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams on his list and a lot of teams on or near the East Coast. Only Oregon and Kansas are programs west of the Mississippi.

The next step for Anthony is likely trimming his list to five and then taking official visits. From there, we will see a Spring commitment from the five-star player.

UNC making the list is great news and we fully expect to see them on the final five list when that does release.
