The UNC Basketball program completed a sweep of their two exhibition games in the Bahamas, capping off the trip on Saturday.

After a weekend in the Bahamas, the next time we will see the North Carolina Tar Heels will be in September as they open up practice to prepare for the 2018-19 season.

The past few days have given us a little taste of UNC basketball as the Tar Heels played in two exhibition games in the Bahamas. On Friday, UNC opened up the trip with a win over the Bahamas’ All-Stars as they team played together in a game for the first time this season.

UNC would return to the court on Saturday to conclude the trip and routed the NPBA All-Stars 130-45 to cap off the trip.

While UNC won both games, Saturday’s was a little less competitive as the Tar Heels got out to an early 27-14 lead as they assisted on all 11 baskets in the first quarter. UNC then opened up their lead in the second quarter by out-scoring the All-Stars 38-12 and taking a 65-26 lead at halftime with Luke Maye leading the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

The second half was more of the same as the first half with UNC totally in control.

UNC used its size to dominate in the paint with Brandon Huffman scoring 20 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the win. Fellow big man Sterling Manley finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds, a game after getting the start at center for UNC.

Maye finished with 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

On Friday, UNC wasn’t able to really break it open as much due to committing 27 turnovers in the game. But they finished with just 17 on Saturday and the overall play was much better by the Tar Heels.

The trip was centered around basketball but it was nice for the team to get away and enjoy the tropic destination to bond together. It’s one final vacation before the hard work and grinding starts in a few weeks as they prepare for the season.

Following this trip, UNC will have a few more weeks before practice begins in late September as they begin preparation for the upcoming season with training camp and media day.

The Tar Heels will host Late Night in Mid-October and then tipoff the season on the road against Wofford in early November. UNC’s non-conference schedule is stacked this year featuring games against Kentucky, Texas, Michigan, Stanford and Gonzaga.
