UNC Basketball: Josh Green set to cut list soon
By Zack Pearson
Class of 2019 recruiting target Josh Green is set to cut down his list of schools very soon according to the latest report
It was just over a week ago that class of 2019 forward Josh Green received his offer from Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The Australian-born prospect was just the latest recruit to earn that scholarship offer from Williams as UNC is hoping to add a talented wing player to the 2019 class. Since then, there hasn’t been much regarding Green’s recruitment until just a few days ago when he provided an important update that could impact the Tar Heels.
Green told USA Today writer Jason Jordan that the next step in his recruitment is to trim his list down and focus on those schools.
“I just need to get it down so I’m able to give more of my attention to those schools,” Green said. “That will make it a lot easier on me.”
The five-star recruit has a total of 29 offers and is the No. 11 player in the 2019 recruiting class according to 247 Sports. He hopes to cut that list down to five or six but told Jordan that it could be more teams depending on the situation.
His offers list includes UNC, Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas, Virginia, Oregon, and UCLA among other schools but the Tar Heels currently hold the edge in the Crystal Ball predictions at 83 percent. Arizona is second at 17 percent.
Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog also spoke to Green about the schools that are showing the most interest in him. He named Arizona, Kansas, Villanova, USC, UNLV and UCLA in that group but went on to say that UNC has started to pick it up after the offer.
Green also went on to say that Williams told him he would use him as more of a combo guard in the lineup.
With Jeremiah Francis already signed and UNC still pursuing other point guards, having Green as a combo guard makes a lot of sense in this offense. He can play the two or three in Williams’ fast-paced offense.
Green has been sidelined after tearing his labrum and didn’t participate in the Steph Curry point guard camp. He hopes to be ready to play again by Mid-November for IMG Academy.
