The UNC Basketball program will get an official visit from a point guard in the 2019 class

Add another official visit to the list for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program.

Head coach Roy Williams and his staff have been working hard and trying their best to sway recruits to join UNC’s 2019 basketball recruiting class. Williams has been across the country during the July evaluation period, watching several 2019 targets play in AAU tournaments.

One prospect that Williams has kept his eye on recently is 2019 point guard Tre Mann.

The four-star point guard is ranked as 33rd in the 247 Sports composite recruiting rankings and 6th among all point guards in his class. He’s really elevated his play during his junior year of high school and caught the attention of Williams who watched him play a few times.

After watching Mann play in the Fab 48 in Las Vegas at the end of July, the head coach decided to extend an offer to Man on July 30th, officially adding him to the recruiting board.

Now, Mann appears ready to get on campus and take an official visit to learn more about UNC and the program.

Rivals reporter Corey Evans reported Tuesday night that Mann had scheduled an official visit to UNC. Minutes later Mann confirmed the news himself via Twitter, stating that he will take his visit on September 14th:

Mann will be in town for that weekend beginning on Friday and will be able to take in UNC’s football home game against UCF on that Saturday.

Mann recently re-opened his recruitment and postponed his scheduled announcement date of July 30th, adding UNC to his list. Programs like Tennessee and Florida had Mann as a high priority but now with UNC in the running, things may have changed.

The point guard took official visits to both Tennessee and Florida in the Spring, so UNC’s official visit could be big. It’s very likely Mann wanted to see what UNC is all about and take it all in before announcing which could certainly be good news for the Tar Heels.

UNC does have point guard Jeremiah Francis verbally committed in 2019 but it hasn’t stopped Williams from pursuing other point guards in the class. The 6-foot-4 Mann is considered one of the purest shooters in the class and would be a big get for Williams on the perimeter.

For now we will just have to stay tuned and wait for the official visit to happen before anything else picks up in the recruitment.
