A recruiting analyst thinks the UNC basketball program is a contender for this recently offered class of 2019 recruit

Roy Williams and the University of North Carolina have some interesting targets on their recruiting board for the 2019 class. Just about a week ago, they added another intriguing player by offering him a scholarship.

On the final day of July just after the evaluation period, Williams extended an offer to Australian-born forward Josh Green. It’s the 11th offer to a 2019 recruiting target for Williams not counting Jeremiah Francis who verbally committed to UNC and Josh Nickelberry who verbally committed to Louisville.

Williams has shown interest in Green for months now, watching him in evaluation periods in 2018 before finally extending an offer.  But while Williams and UNC have shown significant interest in the five-star small forward, what are the chances that they land him?

Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans touched on this topic in his latest Twitter Tuesday roundup published today and it sounds like the Tar Heels have a good chance.

A reader asked Evans about UNC and Green and he offered this answer:

"North Carolina thoroughly evaluated  Josh Green over the past several weeks and has, finally, decided to jump in with an offer. Do I believe that the Tar Heels will eventually land him? It’s still too early to tell, but the offer piqued Green’s interest and North Carolina is a stronger contender for his signature."

Evans goes on to say that the next step for Green is to cut his list and that should happen before the start of his senior year at IMG Academy.

With Francis already signed and UNC putting the full court press on guard Cole Anthony and center Armando Bacot, Williams would love to add another talented wing for his team. This class could be something special for Williams and arguably one of the best if it all comes together how imagined.

Adding Green while landing both Anthony and Bacot would likely be a dream come true for Williams and his staff. He’s prioritized both Anthony and Bacot for a while now and Green is starting to enter that territory as well.

Williams has also had his eye on both Matthew Hurt and Will Baker, both of which are Top 25 recruits in this class.

With the Summer coming to an end soon, recruitments will start to pick up and we should have some more insight as to where UNC stands with recruits they have extended offers to.
