UNC in the NFL: T.J. Logan enters Cardinals camp healthy
By Zack Pearson
T.J. Logan is entering training camp healthy after missing his entire rookie season for the Arizona Cardinals
Former University of North Carolina running back T.J. Logan missed the entire 2017 NFL season after suffering a dislocated wrist. It wasn’t the rookie year that Logan imagined having but now he enters 2018 healthy.
Logan is one of four running backs in Arizona Cardinals training camp right now, headlined by the return of David Johnson. While the speedster is getting the majority of his reps with the third team at the moment, he might carve out a role in the return game.
The Cardinals just opened up training camp in preparation for the 2018 season and already Logan is seeing reps as a punt returner for the team according to Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic.
Mike Jurecki of the Cardinals’ official website is reporting that Logan is getting reps as a kick returner as well. With some tough competition at running back, a good way for Logan to ensure a roster spot is to breakout on special teams.
Logan returned 77 kicks over his four-year career at UNC, finishing with 2,098 return yards and five touchdowns. As a freshman, Logan returned two kicks from touchdowns and had one in his sophomore season.
He finished with two kick returns for a touchdown in his senior year with the Tar Heels.
Logan has the ability to make a big play with his speed and can do it not only as a running back but as a return man too. He could be a surprise contributor for the Cardinals in what seems like a rebuilding year for the franchise.
If he can stay healthy, we could see a big season on tap for the former Tar Heel standout.
