Eric Ebron is hoping to turn around his NFL career and has reported to Indianapolis Colts’ training camp “lighter” than last year

Tight End Eric Ebron is at a big point in his young NFL career. After being selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, Ebron spent four seasons in the Motor City but it was a disappointment as the tight end never broke out to be that pass-catching weapon Matthew Stafford needed.

Ebron decided to sign with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason, hoping for a fresh start and to turn things around in his career.

The tight end will move on from Stafford and play with Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck who is recovering from a major neck injury. Luck is expected to be ready for the start of the 2018 NFL season and is hoping that Ebron is a guy he can target often.

On Thursday, the Colts held their first practice of training camp under new head coach Frank Reich and Ebron reportedly arrived at camp a little slimmer. According to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, Ebron reported to camp a little lighter as he dropped some pounds towards the end of last season and stuck with it.

Ebron and Luck are already getting comfortable with each other early on in camp according to reports. Pelissero tweeted out a few times that Luck has looked for Ebron down the field as he found the tight end wide open in 11-on-11 drills.

Luck targeted Ebron a few more times but one pass attempt was picked off by defensive back Darius Leonard according to Mike Wells.

Ebron is coming off a 2017 campaign in which he had 53 catches on 86 targets for 574 yards and 4 touchdowns. For his career, he has 186 receptions for 2070 yards and 11 TD’s. The Colts are hoping he can turn into a red zone threat for the offense.
