UNC Basketball head coach Roy Williams watched an impressive recruiting target in the 2020 class at the Under Armour Challenge over the weekend

While Roy Williams spent a lot of his time in South Carolina watching the Nike EYBL Peach Jam last week, he managed to get to Georgia to watch a few other recruits.

On Friday, Williams was in Georgia to watch the Under Armour Classic AAU tournament on Friday where some of the best high school basketball players in the 2019 and 2020 classes were on hand showcasing their skills. Williams not only watched target Josh Green but he also watched a guard in the 2020 class.

According to Rivals reporter Corey Evans, Williams was there to watch class of 2020 shooting guard Anthony Edwards.

The Georgia native is considered one of the best players in the 2020 class as he’s ranked No. 7 in the 247 Sports composite rankings. Edwards is the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 2 shooting guard in this class.

The 2020 class is loaded with talent at the top and UNC already has a verbal commitment from big man Day’Ron Sharpe. With Jalen Green sitting atop the rankings, Edwards has made a strong push of late to claim the top spot and this past week’s tournament helped his cause.

Edwards averaged 22.2 points per game during the Under Armour Challenge and impressed a lot of coaches on hand. Joining Williams in watching Edwards was Georgia’s Tom Crean, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo, Kansas’ Bill Self Georgia Tech’s Josh Pastner, and Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton.

The five-star recruit currently has 11 offers including from Florida State, Auburn, Florida, Clemson, Kansas, Virginia and Virginia Tech. UNC has yet to offer Edwards, but it’s not a big deal with a ton of time left for the 2020 class.

With a big man already signed, landing a athletic guard on the wing would be a big bonus for Williams and his staff. The Tar Heels will lose Cam Johnson, Kenny Williams and likely Nassir Little following this season, so it’s important to reload at the position in future classes.
