A big UNC Basketball recruiting target was named the MVP of the Peach Jam on Sunday

Class of 2019 prospect Armando Bacot is just one of the many talented players on Team Takeover which has dominated the EYBL circuit over the past few months.

On Sunday, Bacot played a big role in helping Team Takeover win the Nike Peach Jam as they just completed one of the best EYBL finishes in history, going 23-1 during the circuit. Team Takeover entered the showcase tournament at 16-0 after dominating Spring Sessions.

After opening the tournament with a win on Wednesday, they suffered their first loss of the year at the hands of Nike Team Florida on Thursday morning. Following that loss Bacot and Team Takeover rallied off six straight wins, capped off by a 96-78 win over Team WhyNot which is coached by Russell Westbrook.

Team Takeover jumped out to a 37-31 lead and held on as they dominated down the stretch.

The 6-foot-10 Bacot finished the game with 14 points and 14 rebounds, posting his fifth double-double of the tournament. He averaged 11.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per game while shooting 54.1 percent from the field.

For his efforts, Bacot was named the 2018 Nike EYBL Peach Jam MVP by D1Circuit.com:

Bacot has really elevated his game over the EYBL season and is now a five-star prospect that is ranked No. 25 in the 2019 recruiting class.

The power forward/center has emerged as one of UNC’s top recruiting targets as Roy Williams appears to have put the full-court press on the Virginia native. Williams was on hand at the Peach Jam during the annual tournament to watch some of UNC’s recruiting targets, including Team Takeover.

UNC has appeared to pick up some steam in the Bacot race as well. The recruit was once considered a hard lean to Duke but after visiting Chapel Hill back in February, his crystal ball on 247 Sports has trended 100 percent to UNC.

Bacot recently announced he was transferring to IMG Academy and will now do so as a state champion, gold medalist, Adidas Gauntlet Champion and Peach Jam champion as noted by his tweet following Sunday’s game.
