See where the UNC football program stands in the early opening odds to win the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2018

We are just a few weeks away from the start of training camp for the North Carolina Tar Heels football program as they gear up for the 2018 season. The Tar Heels are coming off a disappointing 2017 season in which they finished 3-9 overall and 1-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

UNC was hit hard by the injury bug as several key players were either lost for the season or for a significant period of time.

Following the disappointing season, head coach Larry Fedora welcomed in a Top 25 recruiting class and the fourth-best in the ACC. Things are starting to point up for the Tar Heels beginning with that class.

But how will it transfer to the field in 2018?

UNC will hope to be a lot better than last season and start to make some progress in returning to the ACC Championship Game. The 2018 season likely won’t be one in which the Tar Heels win the ACC Coastal but it can be seen as a stepping stone in a rebuild for the program.

As we sit in July, the early odds to win the ACC were released and the Tar Heels have the second-worst odds at 100/1.

As you can see, UNC is tied with Duke, Pitt and Syracuse at 100/1 and ahead of only Virginia in the conference. Clemson and Miami are the favorites after winning their divisions last season.

The Tar Heels will kickoff the season on September 1st at Cal and will also play UCF, East Carolina and Western Carolina as part of their non-conference schedule. They will play their Coastal Division opponents with crossover games against Syracuse and N.C. State.
