Coby White is off to a nice start as Team USA is 2-0 to open up play in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship this week in Canda

The USA Men’s U18 Team is off to a hot start in the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, dominating in both games played so far played in Canada. USA is off to a 2-0 start and it hasn’t really been close.

On Sunday, the team opened up the tournament with a 105-73 win over the Dominican Republic by controlling the second half. After leading 43-34 at halftime, Team USA turned it up a notch in the second half by outscoring the Dominican Republic 62-49.

Cole Anthony led the way with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting as he’s continued his hot play. The guard is one of the top players in the 2019 class, climbing the rankings to No. 4. He’s drawn interest from several big programs including the University of North Carolina and he will be a hot target as the Summer continues.

Coby White is UNC’s lone recruit playing in the tournament and so far he’s been really good for Team USA.

White opened up the tournament with a 14-point performance in the win over the Dominican Republic. He made five field goals including four of them from beyond the three-point line in the game.

A days after Team USA beat the Dominican Republic, they cruised to a big victory over Panama.

Team USA dominated from the start, jumping out to a 43-0 lead. They led the game 70-8 at halftime. Panama didn’t score more than 10 points in a single quarter as it was a rout by Team USA.

While White finished with just 8 points, he had one of the highlights on the game. He made the initial block on a Panama fast break with Illinois recruit Ayo Dosunmu recording the other.

Team USA will close out the preliminary round on Monday afternoon when they play Puerto Rico at 6 p.m. EST time.

The teams of Group A & B will then be seeded based on records with quarterfinals play on June 14th followed by the semifinals on June 15th and Finals on June 16th.
