College World Series: Schedule, seeding and game time
Tar Heels return to College World Series for first time since 2013
Matchups for the first two days of the 2018 College World Series have been announced, and the North Carolina Tar Heels are set to play in the event’s opening game.
North Carolina will begin play at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon against the Oregon State Beavers in a rematch of the 2006 and 2007 College World Series Championship Finals. The Tar Heels, of course, lost both series en route to the Beavers’ back-to-back tournament titles.

The No. 6 Tar Heels are making their 11th appearance in the College World Series and seventh in the last 13 seasons. The third-seeded Beavers are making their second consecutive trip to college baseball’s biggest stage, and seventh in program history.
North Carolina enters the game with a 43-18 record, including a 22-8 mark in conference play. The Tar Heels were one of the country’s best teams at home this season with a 28-6 record against ACC opponents.
Oregon State compiled an outstanding 49-10-1 mark overall, while going 20-9-1 in conference play. Similar to the Tar Heels, the Beavers played very well at home this season, winning 26 of their 31 home contests.
Washington and Mississippi State will face off in the late game on Saturday night, throwing first pitch out at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, the fifth-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks will take on the No. 13 Texas Longhorns, followed by top-seeded Florida against No. 9 Texas Tech in the late game.
The losers of Saturday’s games will face off on Monday afternoon, and the winners will play in the nightcap. The same will happen for teams playing on Sunday, with the losers playing in Tuesday’s early game followed by the winners in the late game.
The winning team from each bracket will meet in the College World Series Finals for a three-game series that’s set to begin on Monday, June 25th.
