Jordyn Adams has been selected in the first round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft

University of North Carolina signee Jordyn Adams is supposed to enroll on campus this Summer and begin practicing with the Tar Heels football program.

But those plans might be put on hold.

Adams was selected in the first round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft by the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night. The Angels selected Adams with the 17th overall pick, showing their confidence in the high school senior.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Adams was recently projected to be a first-round pick by Keith Law and it came true on Monday night.

Over his senior year, Adams stock has continued to climb with his strong play for Green Hope as he’s starred as a two-sport athlete.

Adams committed to the Tar Heels’ football program in July of 2017 giving them one of the top wide receivers in their 2018 class. The four-star recruit also intends on playing baseball with the Tar Heels, continuing with both sports in college.

Now, with Adams being drafted so high it’s very possible that he doesn’t even step foot on UNC’s campus and instead signs a  contract with the Angels.

With football being his first love, Adams will have a big decision to make. Does he decide to enroll at UNC and play both football and baseball? Or does he turn pro with the Angels and pursue a Major League Baseball career?

Adams does have a big connection to UNC as his father, Deke, is the defensive line coach for the Tar Heels as he joined Larry Fedora’s staff back in January of 2017.

Still, with a lot of money on the table to turn pro, Adams could lean that way.

Over the past few months, Adams’ has played very well for Green Hope. He showed off his hitting skills at the National High School Invitational in March, impressing scouts as he took Green Hope to the finals for the first time ever. He’s earned an 80-grade by scouts on his base running speed and has showed excellent athleticism.

If he does sign with the Angels he would receive over $3million according to the MLB Draft slot value.

Adams will have some time to make his decision, but whatever he decides to do we are certain he will exceed expectations.
