The Team

How many games does the team win?

In the end, this is all that matters. What is the team’s win-loss record going to be? Will they make a bowl? Will they show improvement?

These are the things fans really care about and the aforementioned questions just are smaller parts of the bigger one.

First of all, I want to say that a team can improve and actually win the same number of games or even fewer games the following season. A lot of that has to do with the schedule and decisions the coaching staff make.

Secondly, the biggest key is health.

As I mentioned earlier I believe the Tar Heels might have gotten six wins if not for their mass number of injuries. Injuries are tough to overcome for any team and when they snowball like they did for UNC, it makes winning all the more difficult.

So with that in mind, what will the Tar Heels do in 2018?

The Tar Heels will play six games on the road this season and will avoid Clemson, Florida State, and Louisville from the Atlantic. They will play one FCS opponent and the only team to go undefeated last season in UCF.

Based on all that, I think there are four games the Tar Heels should definitely win mixed in with six games they could win. So let’s say seven is the number a healthy team should shoot for assuming everything breaks right this time around.
