A very limited amount of UNC Air Jordan 3’s were produced and they are awesome

You can say that playing basketball at the University of North Carolina certainly has some pretty cool perks. Over the years we have seen some pretty awesome retro Air Jordan Player Exclusives made for current and former Tar Heels players.

Several have been shown on the court in games as players usually receive a PE of the latest Air Jordan shoe to hit the market.

But one that surfaced a few months ago as a rumor is actually true and they are pretty damn awesome.

Jordan Brand created a special PE of the Air Jordan 3 for UNC players completely customized for the Tar Heels. The shoe has a white upper with Carolina Blue accents found on the inner-lining, mid, lace locks and tongue. Grey elephant print is also spotted on the shoe.

Perhaps the best part of this PE is the detailing.

The UNC logo appears on the tongues of each shoe, with the traditional argyle print found on the inside soles. To finish off the sleek PE, “UNC” is featured on the left and “Basketball” is featured on the right insides of the tongues.

The Air Jordan 3 is one of the most popular retro shoes ever created and made its debut in 1988 with Michael Jordan playing in his third NBA season. Jordan won the 1988 Slam Dunk contest wearing the Air Jordan 3 and over the years it has released in several different colorways.

This pair of UNC PE’s are ultra rare as only 250 pairs were produced, given to players and people connected with the program. If you want to get your hands on a pair, you’re going to need to shell out some major cash.

We likely won’t see these worn in a game anytime soon but they could make an appearance on the feet of some current and former players at some point.
