UNC has added UCLA to its future college basketball schedule in 2019

The CBS Sports Classic will return to Sin City once again.

After the event looked to be in jeopardy following its fourth-year in 2017, it will return for at least two more years. On Thursday, it was announced that the CBS Sports Classic would head to Las Vegas for the second time in 2019.

The North Carolina Tar Heels will match up with the UCLA Bruins in the 2019 event held at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas. It will be the second time the two teams have met in the history of this event.

Kentucky and Ohio State will play in the other game of the doubleheader.

The CBS Sports Classic made its debut in 2014 with UNC, UCLA, Ohio State and Kentucky all participating in it. Chicago’s United Center hosted the first event with the Tar Heels and Buckeyes playing Game 1 and the Wildcats and Bruins meeting in the second game.

After a year in Chicago, the event moved around and was played in Brooklyn in 2015, Las Vegas in 2016 and New Orleans in 2017. It’s slated to return to the United Center in Chicago in 2018 when UNC will play Kentucky and Ohio State will play UCLA.

For the Tar Heels, UCLA is the fifth non-conference opponent on their 2019-2020 schedule with Wofford, @ Gonzaga, @ UNC-Wilmington, and Elon already on it.

It’s also the second-straight year UNC will be in Vegas to play. They are scheduled to play in the two-day Las Vegas Invitational in November of 2018.

The Tar Heels are one of four teams in that Las Vegas Invitational joining UCLA, Michigan State and Florida. The Invitational tips off on Nov. 22 with the winners playing on Nov. 23.

UNC is 3-1 all-time in the CBS Sports Classic with their only loss coming to Kentucky back in 2016.
