Former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow will visit the Tar Heels this week

The North Carolina Tar Heels football program could be adding another transfer quarterback for the second-straight year.

A year after former LSU quarterback Brandon Harris announced he was transferring to UNC, Joe Burrow has the Tar Heels on his list of transfer schools. The former Ohio State quarterback announced he was transferring from the program a few weeks ago and is close to making a decision.

According to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, Morrow is set to use his third and final visit in Chapel Hill. Morrow will visit UNC this week after taking visits to Cincinnati and LSU last week.

Burrow graduated from Ohio State in three years and has two years of eligibility left. He can play right away and going to a place where he can be the starter might be key in his decision.

The Tar Heels return both Chazz Surratt and Nathan Elliot after both players played last season along with Harris. Head coach Larry Fedora said that this year’s quarterback competition will be between Surratt and Elliott.

But if Burrow commits, he will also be in the running for the starting job.

Burrow was the No. 8 dual-quarterback in the 2015 class when he committed to the Buckeyes and won the Ohio Mr. Football Award back in 2014.  He served as the backup to J.T. Barrett and suffered a broken finger during training camp in 2017. He did appear in five games during the 2016 season.

The quarterback is expected to make his decision as early as the end of the week and possibly next week.
