We have the latest on UNC basketball recruiting target Wendell Moore and where he might be leaning

Forward Wendell Moore has been one of the University of North Carolina’s top targets in the 2019 recruiting class and the Tar Heels are hoping they can reel him in.

The in-state product is currently ranked as a Top 25 player in the class and has had a UNC offer for nearly two years now. Head coach Roy Williams has made Moore a priority for the Tar Heels in hopes of adding him to his 2019 class.

As of late, Moore’s recruitment has been fairly silent.

He did receive an offer from Duke back in November which may have turned things in favor of the Blue Devils. UNC was the rumored favorites for a long time but Moore grew up rooting for Duke and finally got that offer from Coach K and the Blue Devils.

With UNC and Duke being two of the top programs recruiting him, it’s likely Moore will stay in-state to play college ball. Moore does have offers from both Wake Forest and NC State as well.

Rivals Corey Evans was asked about Moore’s recruitment in his Twitter Tuesday article and mentioned that Wake Forest shouldn’t be counted out. The Demon Deacons have recruited Moore hard for years now.

Evans went on to say that Kansas, South Carolina, Ohio State and Washington have all offered Moore. The Huskies had an in-home visit with Moore in the middle of April and were listed as one of his Top 10 teams.  There’s some mutual interest there but would they be able to pull him out of the Atlantic Coast Conference?

As for the Tar Heels, they are continuing to show a lot of interest. Williams was in Dallas for the EYBL AAU circuit over the weekend and Moore was one of the players he watched.

There’s no timetable for any visits as they will likely come after the live periods. When Moore does announce his official visit schedule, it’s almost certain UNC will be on that list.

This is shaping up to be another big recruiting battle between UNC and Duke for the in-state product and things could turn at any point.
