Los Angeles Rams

This just might be the best fit for the Rams.

In a mock draft done by NFC North writers for 247 Sports actually has Smith going to the Rams earlier than we expect. They have the Rams taking Smith at 136th overall in the fourth round of the draft.

The Rams ranked 28th against the run in the 2017 season despite having a stout defensive line including Aaron Donald. They then traded inside linebacker Alec Ogletree to the New York Giants for draft picks.

They need help inside and against the run, so addressing the need will be big. They could look late in the first round or even on day three. If they decide there’s a prospect on day three, Smith could be their guy.

Smith is a little shaky in coverage which would make him an early down linebacker that can be stout defending the run.

Putting Smith on a team that will enter the year as one of the favorites in the NFC would be huge for the former Tar Heel. He could end up playing in the Super Bowl like wide receiver Mack Hollins last season.
