2018 NFL Draft: Five landing spots for UNC linebacker Andre Smith
By Zack Pearson
Green Bay Packers
The Packers are another team that needs help inside.
After firing Dom Capers, Green Bay brought in former Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine who also spent time with the New York Jets as defensive coordinator from 2009-2012.
If Smith lands in Green Bay, he will be playing for a historic franchise that currently has one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Green Bay is in a position to win now and could look at Smith late in the draft for some depth.
The Packers finished 18th in the NFL last season in rush defense, allowing 112.1 yards per game on the ground.
It’s likely they will turn to the draft to pickup an inside linebacker. Whether they do it early or late is the question. Green Bay could opt to go for Roquan Smith in the first round or even Virginia Tech’s Tremaine Edmunds.
It’s possible they can also go early and late to address the need. We like the fit here for Smith as he can learn under Pettine and hopefully develop into a good future linebacker for Green Bay.
