Class of 2019 recruit Matthew Hurt is receiving visits from blue blood programs

The North Carolina Tar Heels have shown interest in class of 2019 recruit Matthew Hurt for several months now.

Head coach Roy Williams and his staff have made Hurt a priority in their 2019 class which already has point guard Jeremiah Francis signed. The Tar Heels have visited Hurt a few times now and have become one of the reported favorites.

Most recently, Williams and his staff visited Hurt last week in Minnesota but they weren’t the only ones.

Some other blue bloods were in to visit Hurt as Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Kansas’ Bill Self and Kentucky’s John Calipari. Both UNC and Kansas have been interested in Hurt for months now with Duke and Kentucky just joining in the race.

While Hurt has received visits from those blue blood schools, other programs are set to visit him in the coming week according to Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog.

According to Zagoria, Indiana, UCLA and Memphis all plan on visiting Hurt in the coming week.

Hurt recently spoke to Zagoria about past visits, including the Tar Heels, and had some interesting things to say.

Here’s how he broke down his visit with UNC:

"“North Carolina is the same way. They would use me in pick-and-roll situations and try to be a mismatch nightmare.”"

It’s obvious Williams has the five-star forward high on his list as it would help fill a void in the post for the Tar Heels.

Hurt is becoming one of the better players in the 2019 class as he’s ranked No. 4 according to 247 Sports. He’s the No. 2 overall power forward in the class and the top recruit in the state of Minnesota.

UNC was also listed along with Kansas as the two schools that are showing the most interest in Hurt about a few weeks ago.

With blue bloods like Kentucky and Duke in the running now, Hurt’s recruitment is going to get interesting. He’s still a while away from a commitment but we have to imagine UNC will make his final list at some point.
