Roy is making visits

Roy Williams is already back on the recruiting trail during the dead period and has watched two big recruits play in the past week.

With the NCAA Tournament wrapping up, Williams is using this time to make some trips across the country. Just a week ago, he was in Texas to watch center Will Baker play.

Baker is a five-star recruit out of Texas and considered a top 20 player in the 2019 class. He’s one of UNC’s top targets in the 2019 class as Williams has continued to show heavy interest in him and make him a priority.

With the Tar Heels lacking a dominant post player in 2018, they have to rely on the development of Garrison Brooks, Sterling Manley and Brandon Huffman for next season. But after that, landing a post player will be very important for future classes.

Baker wasn’t the only Texas player that Williams visited. He also stopped to see 2019 power forward Jalen Wilson before Baker.

The Tar Heels are now showing interest in the four-star player who is ranked No. 28 in the 2019 class. He holds offers from Kansas, Purdue, Oklahoma, Marquette, Arizona State and Baylor among others.

UNC is expected to visit Wilson again soon.

After his trip to Texas last week, Williams is also set to visit 2019 recruit Matthew Hurt.

The Minnesota native is a five-star power forward and currently ranked as the No. 4 player in the 2019 class. UNC is among several teams interested in Hurt and already has offered the recruit.

Williams will visit Hurt on Sunday but he’s got some competition as both John Calipari and Mike Krzyzewski will also be visiting. Hurt’s Crystal Ball currently favors Kansas at 50% followed by in-state Minnesota at 30% and UNC at 10%.

The Tar Heels are one of the teams showing the most interest in Hurt according to Rivals and the rumblings state that they are picking up some steam.
