UNC Baseball: Jordyn Adams helps Green Hope make history
By Zack Pearson
UNC recruit Jordyn Adams is standing out at the NHSI as Green Hope is in the title game
Jordyn Adams appears ready to dominate two sports when he steps foot on the campus of the University of North Carolina this summer.
The high school senior is currently a part of the Tar Heels 2018 football recruiting class as well as the baseball class. He plans on playing two sports at UNC and he might just dominate both.
Adams is in his final high school baseball season for Green Hope in Cary, North Carolina and he’s already helped make some history early on in the season. Green Hope is participating in the 2018 National High School Invitational, featuring some of the best teams in the country.
The tournament kicked off a few days ago but Green Hope has already punched their ticket to the Final Four with a 8-3 win over Mountain Ridge. By doing so, they became the first team ever from the state of North Carolina to reach the Final Four in the NHSI.
Adams had four hits through the first two days of the tournament, becoming just one of nine players to do so. He went 3-for-4 in Thursday’s game, helping Green Hope take home a win.
Check out some highlights from Adams:
Not only is Adams impressive at the plate but he’s already stolen five bases which leads all players in the tournament.
Baseball America wrote on Adams’ as a prospect and if MLB teams will make it difficult for him to even step foot on UNC’s campus by selecting him in the upcoming draft:
"With the way Adams is barreling baseballs every time he comes to the plate, and with how easily he manages to take over games on the basepaths, teams might start thinking very hard about letting the Tar Heel signee get to campus. Adams could have a promising future on the gridiron, however, and that might end up winning out in regards to the draft."
Green Hope advanced to the finals of the tournament with a 1-0 walkoff win over John Curtis Christian High in extra innings on Friday.
They play for the championship on Saturday at Noon EST with Adams hoping to lead Green Hope to their first-ever NSHI title.
As for his ranking in the upcoming MLB Draft, Adams stock is certainly rising. He will be drafted come June and will face the decision of playing both football and baseball at UNC or signing with an MLB organization and going pro.
