The Tar Heels returned to the Final Four behind the play of Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson, earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

UNC made another run in the tournament and it appeared as if they would win title number six by beating Villanova. After falling behind late in the game, Marcus Paige hit one of the best shots that will forever be overshadowed.

Marcus Paige hits the miraculous three vs Villanova to tie the game; Kris Jenkins answers

UNC vs Villanova is a game that will live in infamy for Tar Heel fans. The Tar Heels had an easy and dominant run into the championship game, never seeing higher than a No. 5 seed.

Villanova proved to be a totally different animal. Coming off a 44-point win vs Oklahoma, Villanova was rolling and would give UNC everything they could handle. The first half of the championship was back and forth, closing with UNC up five heading into the half.

The second half started as trading baskets until Villanova began a run that pushed their lead to 10 with 5:29 to play. UNC went on a 9-0 run of their own getting within one.  After a few more traded buckets UNC found themselves down three with 13 seconds to go.

Enter Marcus Paige.

A double-clutch 30-foot three-pointer that looked nearly impossible found the bottom of the net to tie the game.

All of Tar Heel nation was hoping for overtime, which of course Kris Jenkins made clear was not in the cards. Jenkins hit one of the biggest threes in NCAA history and the game was over.
