Kenny Williams wins ACC Tournament MVP

In his third season at North Carolina, Kenny Williams has made the leap to a significant contributor on this Tar Heel team.

There is no telling where this team would be without his knockdown shooting and strong defense.

That is why I think he will be the ACC Tournament MVP.

Against the Orange two weeks ago, Williams struggled. This gives him the perfect chance to get it together and get on a roll. Williams hit a slump in the middle of the season, but he has come out of it.

Lately, he has been the Tar Heels most consistent three-point shooter, with Cameron Johnson making a case also.

But another key part to his MVP chances will be his lockdown defense.

We all know how well he defends and he will get the best matchups in this tournament. He will guard the likes of Tyus Battle, Lonnie Walker, TJ Gibbs, maybe Gary Trent Jr., and Kyle Guy. The opportunities will be there.

The chase for MVP for Williams will begin on the defensive end. Mainly because that’s how his game is. He is a classic 3-and-D player for North Carolina. If he brings the defense, his shots will fall.

I see Williams putting up strong numbers in every game, averaging somewhere around 15 points per game. Pair that with his defense on some of the opposing teams best players and that’s the formula for ACC Tournament MVP.
