The Tar Heels get revenge on Virginia to win ACC Championship

When the Tar Heels lost to Virginia earlier this season, it was an arrival for the Cavaliers this season.

Doubt them as much as you want to, but the Cavaliers are for real. If they were 17-1 in the ACC and wore Carolina blue, people would call it the best accomplishment of the decade. But just because they do not have the postseason success yet, people doubt them.

Kind of similar to when Villanova beat North Carolina a couple of years ago.

This year Virginia is far and away the best team in the ACC, but that does not mean the Tar Heels can’t beat them. It’s a one-game sample size for the championship and the Tar Heels best game is as good as anybody else’s.

The Tar Heels path, in my opinion, will not go through Duke. I see the Tar Heels facing off against Notre Dame in the semi-final. Mike Brey typically does a good job of having his guys ready for tournament play. Bonzie Colson is back and with him, the Irish can contain Duke and Marvin Bagley.

Assuming the Tar Heels can get by the Irish, they will bring the fire this time and they will beat the Cavaliers.

Beating North Carolina twice in the same year is tough. The pack line defense is hard to crack and this may be the best version of it under Tony Bennet. But the Tar Heels will get the job done this time and it will be their second ACC title in three seasons.
