A pair of game-worn sneakers from Michael Jordan’s college days at UNC are up for auction

Before Michael Jordan had a historic NBA career with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, he decided to attend the University of North Carolina and play for Dean Smith.

Jordan had a stellar career at UNC winning the ACC Rookie of the Year award in 1982, was a two-time First Team All-ACC and All-American in 1983 and 1984, and was named the AP National College Player of the Year and ACC Player of the Year in 1984.

Oh he also hit the game-winning shot which has become an iconic moment helping UNC win the 1982 National Championship over Georgetown.

Now more than 30-years later you can own a pair of history from Jordan’s incredible career.

A pair of Converse shoes worn by Jordan during the 1981-82 season that are signed and inscribed are up for auction in Leland.com’s Classic Auction going on now. Leland’s is the world’s first sports auction house with its roots dating back to 1969.

The Classic Auction not only features the pair of Converse shoes from Jordan but it also features game-used bats from Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and even some Super Bowl rings from the New York Giants. If you’re a sports fans, you’ll certainly find something in this auction.

This isn’t the first time a pair of signed shoes from Michael Jordan has been up for auction. In June of 2017, a pair of game-used Converse shoes worn by Jordan in the 1984 Olympics were auctioned off.

They sold for a record-amount of $190,373.

It’s unknown what game Jordan wore the shoes in but with that season leading to a National Championship, the value on these is pretty high. It seems like every few months an awesome piece of memorabilia from Jordan surfaces and is auctioned off giving fans a chance to own history.
