E.J. Montgomery plans on returning to Chapel Hill for an official visit before he makes a decision

It was just a week ago that five-star forward E.J. Montgomery took an unofficial visit to North Carolina for the Tar Heels game against Notre Dame.

Montgomery visited the Chapel Hill campus and watched the Tar Heels win their third game in a span of five days.

Now, he’s planning on returning for another visit.

According to ESPN’s Paul Biancardi, Montgomery plans to take one of his official visits to North Carolina. He just doesn’t know when yet.

Biancardi caught up with Montgomery and tweeted this out on Monday afternoon:

"Spoke with E.J Montgomery who currently sits at no.16 in the ESPN 100. He has visited Duke and North Carolina unofficially and plans to go back to both for official visits."

UNC head coach Roy Williams put the full court press on the former Auburn verbal commit, visiting him just days after losing out on Zion Williamson.

Montgomery enjoyed his visit to UNC according to multiple reports and the Tar Heels now seem like a real player in the race to land the recruit.

The consensus Top 20 recruit is one of the best players still left uncommitted and is considering 11 schools before he trims down his list soon.

One of those schools is Duke, which already has the No. 1 overall recruiting class signed for 2019.

Adding another top 20 recruit, would just be icing on the cake for the Blue Devils and a disappointment for the Tar Heels. UNC has a top 10 class currently with recruits Nassir Little, Coby White and Rechon Black signed but they want to add to it as they look to reload next year.

Montgomery would fit right in and would start right away for the Tar Heels.

In addition to an official visit to UNC, Montgomery will set one for both Duke and Kentucky as well as the possibility of a fourth official visit to a school.
