Roy Williams reaches an Atlantic Coast Conference milestone with the Tar Heels win over Notre Dame on Monday

University of North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball coach Roy Williams has already had an historic career filled with accolades.

Williams just won his third NCAA men’s basketball national championship last year and he’s coming off back-to-back Final Fours.

Now as we head into the month of March in a few weeks, Williams has the Tar Heels playing some of their best basketball of the year.

On Monday, the Tar Heels completed a three-game in five-day stretch where they won all three by beating Duke, NC State and Notre Dame. They currently sit in fourth place in the conference and are in line for a double bye.

With Monday’s win, Williams reached an Atlantic Coast Conference milestone and joined some elite company.

Williams earned his 200th ACC win, composing of regular season conference wins and conference tournament wins.

He joins some legendary coaches in Dean Smith, Mike Krzyzewski and Gary Williams as the only ones to achieve the feat.

Williams needs 10 more to tie Gary Williams at 210, while Smith has 422 and Coach K sits at 468.

In addition to the 200th ACC win, Williams now has 418 wins at UNC matching his total during his time at Kansas.

The Tar Heels have four games remaining in the ACC regular season and then the conference tournament in March.

They will head back onto the road for two-straight beginning a Louisville on Saturday then Syracuse on Feb. 21st. The Tar Heels return home for a game against Miami on Feb. 27th before closing out the regular season at Duke on March 3.

The upcoming four days off will be much-needed for the Tar Heels as they come off a tough five-day stretch.
