2017-18 ACC Basketball Power Rankings: Week 2
Another week of College Basketball means another round of ACC Basketball Power Rankings.
What a crazy weekend in college basketball. Saturday saw three of the top ten and nine of the top 25 lose.
Sunday followed that up with two more top 25 squads losing, including top-ranked Michigan State.
Of course, that is what conference play does. It messes up everything anyone thought they knew and raises more questions than answers.
In the Big Ten, it seemed the Spartans were the team to beat. Then they lost to Ohio State and are now a game behind Purdue and the Buckeyes in conference play.
In the Pac-12, it seemed to be an all Arizona affair with the Sun Devils undefeated and the Wildcats coming back with a purpose. However, Arizona State has now lost two of their past three and Arizona just got beat by Colorado, who also beat the Sun Devils.
In the Big 12, it was supposed to be Kansas once again. However, the Jayhawks have had their struggles and are at best the third best team in the conference behind West Virginia and Texas Tech, who are a combined 28-2 on the season, including a Red Raiders win over the Jayhawks.
The SEC looks to be a jumbled mess with Kentucky looking vulnerable and a not-so-great Florida team leading the league at 3-0. The biggest surprise there is Auburn who is on a 12 game winning streak and just finished the week with wins over ranked Tennessee and Arkansas.
All that leaves is the ACC is where it is business as usual. The ACC continues to prove to be the best conference in America with three teams undefeated in conference play and six squads ranked in the AP top 25.
So let’s get into this week’s rankings starting with the only squad who hasn’t won a game in conference play.
Note: All records and stats are of 1/7/18.
