Vernon Carey Jr. to cut list soon

One of the top players in the 2019 class is getting ready to cut down his list.

Vernon Carey Jr. is one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2019 class, holding offers from Duke, Florida, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State and UCLA among others.

But soon, three-to-four teams will know if they are still in the running for the 6-foot-9 forward.

Carey Jr. spoke to reporters at the John Wall Invitational held in Raleigh, updating his recruitment and revealing the next step.

“I just want to cut my list of schools down because it’s easier to focus on a few,” Carey said via USA Today. “I think I want to get it down to about three or four by March. That’s my plan.”

While in Raleigh for the tournament, Carey Jr. is using this as an opportunity to visit two schools he has offers from.

Carey Jr. visited both Duke and North Carolina’s campus this past week.

The Blue Devils are reportedly the favorites to land Carey Jr. leading the way in 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball predictor. But don’t count the Tar Heels out just yet.

It will be interesting to see what teams are included in Carey Jr.’s list. He has a big connection to Miami with his father staring there on the football team and then playing for the Miami Dolphins.

We’d be shocked to see Miami and Duke missing from his list. That would leave one to two teams left.
