Tar Heels visit Armando Bacot

One of the Tar Heels top targets in the 2019 class, Armando Bacot, participated in the Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament last week and had a big tournament.

The 6-foot-10 power forward led his Trinity Episcopal team to a tournament championship by dominating the competition.

Bacot scored 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds, blocked six shots and had three steals in Trinity’s win over Varina in the title game.

His performance earned him the tournament’s MVP award, a big early season accolade for the junior.

Just a week later, Bacot had a monster double-double scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a 95-81 win over Life Christian Academy.

Bacot picked up another offer, this time from Ohio State and now has 37 total.

The Tar Heels remain in pursuit of the five-star forward and have watched him play within the last two weeks.

North Carolina assistant Hubert Davis was at the Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament to watch Bacot. The recruit was in Chapel Hill for a visit in September and then head coach Roy Williams traveled to see him later in that month.

While Duke remains the favorite for the 6-foot-10 big man, the Tar Heels are picking up some momentum.
