CINCINNATI, OH - DECEMBER 10: Mitchell Trubisky

Mitchell Trubisky had his best performance of his rookie season for the Chicago Bears against the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday.

In Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mitchell Trubisky had a career-defining game.

No, it wasn’t the most yards he had ever thrown in one game. Nor was it a career high in touchdowns, completion percentage, or passes thrown.

In fact, it wasn’t even his best game as far as passer rating was concerned.

Instead, it was his most complete game of the year. Trubisky finished with 271 yards and a touchdown on 32 passing attempts in the Chicago Bears 33-7 beat down of the Bengals.

He also completed 78.1 percent of his passes and ran for his first rushing touchdown of his career.

The game also marked Trubisky’s best QBR performance of the season. QBR measures a quarterback’s control of the game and that’s exactly what Trubisky did to Cincinnati. He owned the Bengals all game and his team knew it.

Look at what some of his teammates had to say about it:

"“Oh, hell yeah. Mitch will tell us, ‘Shut the f*** up’ in the huddle.” Right Tackle Bobby Massie said via Adam Hoge. “Mitch has got some balls. He’s going to be a good quarterback.”"
"“That’s why you trade up and get a quarterback like that.” Per Wide Receiver Kendall Wright, via Adam Jahns. “He played light outs, and he’s really becoming leader and he’s really coming into his own, just being himself.”"

It has been a slow grow for Trubisky this season, but games like this help that growth process and give fans hope that their GM made the right call to trade up and grab this guy.

Games like this make fans believe that the team is just a few moves away from maybe being relevant next season. Of course, there is more to it than just that.

The Bears have a lot to do and Trubisky still has a ways to go. It will start with the offseason, where the team will probably bring in a new coach and hopefully a few more guys who can catch the ball.

Regardless of what happens, the future is brighter than it was before this game. Every player needs a breakout moment and if this was it for Mitchell Trubisky, then the team is in great shape moving forward.
