Venom

Venom was birthed out of hate for Spiderman on two different fronts. First, there was the symbiote that gave Venom his gifts. Arriving from outer space, the symbiote originally combined with Peter Parker creating the Black Spiderman.

However, after realizing the corruptible nature of the symbiote, Spiderman successfully broke free from the black goo by going under a church bell (the symbiote had a weakness to loud noises). As the symbiote oozed off of Spiderman, it fell on Eddie Brock.

Brock hated Spiderman as much as the symbiote did (Brock blamed Spidey for costing him his job, home, and reputation) and the combination of that hate led to the creation of Venom.

Possessing the same abilities as Spiderman as well as superior strength and an iron focus created by hatred, Venom posed as a perfect adversary for the web slinger (though maybe not his top baddie, that is often considered Green Goblin).

So who gets to don the Spiderman costume for Virginia? Well, the Cavs very own friendly neighborhood ball slinger, Kurt Benkert. Benkert has been everything for Virginia this season and the main reason the Cavaliers are bowl eligible for just the second time this decade.

Benkert leads the ACC with 25 touchdowns and leads the Coastal with 2876 yards.

Against Miami, Benkert threw for 384 and four touchdowns. He also completed 75 percent of his passes to give the Cavaliers a 14 point third quarter lead against the Hurricanes.

Of course, Virginia lost, as Miami has their own group of superhuman beings, but it wouldn’t have even been a contest without the heroics of Benkert.

Up next for the web-slinging quarterback is the annual rivalry game against Virginia Tech for the Commonwealth Cup. Virginia will need all the help it can get if they intend to end their current 13 game losing streak in the series.
