College basketball season is back, and the Tar Heels are ready to begin their title defense

After a seven-month layoff, college basketball is finally back.

In that seven months, North Carolina fans celebrated the programs seventh national title. But now, the quest to be the first back-to-back champion since Florida in 2006-07 is on. The Tar Heels will be kicking off the season against Northern Iowa on Friday, marking the official start of the 2017-18 season.

Last season, we gave you five bold predictions during the middle of the season. Unfortunately, we only got one right, so hopefully nobody is keeping score.

But it is a new year, so this season we are going to go 5-for-5.

The point of bold predictions is in the title: Go BOLD. But we don’t want to get too crazy around here. We certainly will not be predicting the Tar Heels to go undefeated like Wendell Carter did for Duke. But as always, North Carolina fans can expect another good season out of this team.

Many expect the Tar Heels to be a top-10 team again this year, so once again the ceiling is the roof for this Roy Williams-coached team.
