2018’s top shooting guard will cut list to 3 this weekend

There are a number of elite prospects from the class of 2018 that remain uncommitted, and five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford is one of them.

Langford recently finished up a round of official visits with the five schools that he is currently considering, and apparently he’s seen enough to eliminate a couple and move forward with the remaining few.

According to Adam Zagoria, Langford’s father, Tim, confirmed yesterday that his son would be narrowing his current list of five teams to just three, and that the announcement would be made some time this weekend.

It’s a safe assumption that Langford’s updated list will include Kansas, as well as current front-runner Indiana. Between the remaining three schools, North Carolina, UCLA and Vanderbilt, my guess is that the Tar Heels will make the cut. However, nothing is certain at this point and all five teams are definitely in contention from the outside looking in.

Langford is, without question, one of the most talented high school players in the country. His tremendous skill set and athleticism have made him one of the most highly coveted prospects in the nation.

His ability to move with or without the ball, attack the paint and hit shots from the perimeter are the hallmark of his game, and what makes him such a hot commodity coming out of high school.

At 6-foot-5 and 190-pounds, he has good size for his position and will match up very well with opposing guards at the collegiate level. His strength and athleticism should allow him to compete against bigger opponents, if necessary.

He averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and more than two blocks per game in leading New Albany to a 25-4 record and an appearance in the regional final.

Langford is the No. 5 prospect in the class of 2018 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 1 shooting guard in his class and the top player in the state of Indiana.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently has Indiana as the most likely landing spot for Langford, which projects the Hoosiers as an 80 percent favorite to land the talented guard.
