Does North Carolina still have a shot at Zion Williamson?

Zion Williamson, the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2018, could make his decision during college basketball’s early signing period.

Or not.

And he could easily pick Kentucky, Kansas or Duke. He could also be deciding between North Carolina or in-state schools Clemson and South Carolina.

Or not.

Okay, the point is that nobody currently has any clue as to what the country’s most talked about high school player is going to do at the time of his announcement.

Williamson and his family have kept quiet throughout the process, never tipping their hand as to where the five-star small forward would play his lone year of college basketball.

Many have often discounted and written off the in-state schools, assuming that programs like Clemson and South Carolina couldn’t lure him away from powerhouses such a Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina. That doesn’t seem to be the case though, as none of Williamson’s finalists appear to be out of contention.

Williamson wrapped up his official visits on October 27th when he visited North Carolina. He also took official visits to each of the other blue bloods, as well as numerous unofficial trips to see the Tigers and Gamecocks.

Recent chatter within the recruiting world suggests that Duke and North Carolina have picked up steam in Williamson’s recruitment. If I were a betting man, though, I’d still put my money on Kentucky.
