Fire and Rain

Miami has definitely seen both fire and rain this year.

The season started with plenty of rain as Miami canceled one game and had to postpone another due to Hurricane Irma. They also saw some rain against Georgia Tech as the Hurricanes used that to help slow down the Yellow Jackets and get the one point win.

They also have seen fire. Before the game Saturday, Miami had been under fire for winning four straight games by 18 points against teams that are a combined 12-22 on the season. Of course, that criticism may have also lit a fire under Miami.

The Canes were ranked tenth in the initial college football rankings behind six teams with one loss, despite being undefeated themselves. Miami must have taken that personally as they made Virginia Tech feel that fire.

The Hurricanes scored 28 points and never trailed against the Hurricanes in what is now their biggest win of the season. Miami got big games from Malik Rosier who accounted for three touchdowns and Travis Homer who had 95 yards rushing and a score.

The Canes will get another chance to show that fire and add another signature win when they welcome in Notre Dame this weekend. The Irish have one loss and were ranked third in the college football rankings initial rankings this past week.

Well that does it for this round of rankings. Before I sign off here is how I rank the entire ACC after one week (Coastal teams in bold, rankings movement in parentheses):
