I Got Nothin

To be honest, I was seriously tempted to write this and leave it, as “I Got Nothin” says it all for this year’s Tar Heels. However, I decided to delve in a little deeper than that.

I have watched every minute of every game this season, and I can legitimately say that there are little-to-no positives this year. This has been a bad season at UNC, evidenced by two things.

One, the season is so bad that I have found myself arguing with others on which starting quarterback is the worst.

The answer, and sad truth, is both.

Chazz Surratt, for all his potential, looks broken on the field. Every time he drops back he is either concerned he is going to get hit or get pulled. I am not sure he is the answer, and honestly, if he was, he may not be now.

At least with Surratt, there is a youth card to be played. So what is Brandon Harris’ excuse? The graduate transfer now has eight interceptions in 71 pass attempts. Yes, that is just as bad as it looks.

Again, I am not sure Surratt is the future at quarterback for the Tar Heels (I know Harris isn’t). With the season winding down, I would like to see what Logan Byrd can do, but that would require Larry Fedora giving him a chance.

Two, the season is so bad I have found myself arguing with others on whether the Tar Heels are the worst team in the Power Five, if not the entire FBS.

I like to think the answer is no. First of all, there are three teams on the FBS level who have not won a game this season. This includes Baylor, who is also a Power Five school.

Additionally the Tar Heels rank better than six Power Five schools in defensive yards per game (though last in total defensive yards) and better than five Power Five schools in offensive yards per game.

UNC is bad, probably even the worst in the ACC, but the worst in FBS, they haven’t reached that plateau yet.

The Tar Heels will look to stop the bleeding this week as they welcome in the undefeated Miami Hurricanes.
