Another week of college football means another week of the ACC Coastal Division Power Rankings.

Week 8 promised some big games and instead showed that the ‘haves’ may be part of the ‘have nots’. With that in mind, let’s see what others are doing around the college football landscape.

In Big Ten country, the conference promised a big showdown between Penn State and Michigan. Three Saquon Barkley touchdowns later and all we got was a 42-13 blowout by the Nittany Lions. That’s one down and two to go for Penn State.

Moving west to the Pac-12, the nation was promised a top-15 showdown between Notre Dame and USC. Instead, we got another blowout, this time by the Irish as Josh Adams’ 191 yards and three touchdowns helped lead Notre Dame to a 35-point win.

The Trojans loss may also doom the Pac 12’s playoff hopes. Washington and Washington State each have only one loss, but still have to play each other. The winner will now face a South winner that won’t do anything to help their playoff chances.

Down in the Southwest, we arrive in Big 12 country where TCU continues to destroy everything in its path. The Horned Frogs beat Kansas 43-0 this past weekend, holding the Jayhawks to 21 total yards of offense (no that’s not a typo).

TCU destroyed the state of Kansas the past two weeks beating both Big 12 squads by a combined 63 points. All that stands in the Horned Frogs’ way are the two schools from Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, the SEC was blowout city. Alabama blew out Tennessee, LSU blew out Ole Miss, Mississippi State blew out Kentucky, Auburn blew out Arkansas, and even Missouri got in on the fun blowing out Idaho.

The SEC is a two team race and in serious contention to get two playoff teams if Georgia and Alabama stay undefeated going into the championship game.

All that is left is the ACC. There were no Atlantic opponents as both Clemson and NC State had byes. Those two teams will meet in Raleigh in two weeks for what should be for the Atlantic Crown.

Unfortunately, no blow outs in the Coastal cannot be said as two Coastal squads were beaten by 31 and 52, respectively. With that in mind, we move on to our real rankings.

By the way, If you are wondering how all of that action impacted my top 10, check it out here:

This week I offered the heading gig to former lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, Darius Rucker, who of course accepted. First up is the only ACC Coastal team whose place is official.
